Job Time: - 4-5 hours. Symptoms of faulty CCV: - Engine drinking oil (as much as half a litre/month is typical). - Oil residue in the inlet manifold (remove your DISA valve to check). This is a job that most people who live in a cold/ish climate and own a 7+ year old e46 probably need doing, even
Undo all the hoses, unscrew the bolts and remove the valve. Replacing the crankshaft sensor is a simple job. It is located just underneath the starter, secured with one bolt. Unplug the connector, undo the bolt, and pull out the sensor. This may require some wiggling.I want to delete my ccv, for that have bought a catch oil but i don't know not as put it, i think that there are have three options: 1) To make it practically equal, the engine will keep on inhaling dirty and warm air. I don't like. 2) with the same system that 1) but putting a catch oil with air filter. The gases are slightly cleaner and cold. Yes, but the symptoms may be misleading. A vacuum leak in the the VC can cause idle issues and can lead to a loss of oil, which can be misconstrued as due to CCV failure. However, that the loss of oil is more likely due to a physical leak and is not being burned due to a failed CCV. Your evidence clearly indicates a VC leak.
The obvious suspect is too much crankcase vacuum. I have read that high levels of crankcase vacuum can lower oil pressure due to the vacuum sucking oil out of exit points, and also resisting the oil pump's ability to suction oil up through the pickup tube. I am running 5/8 hoses and the pcv valve recommended in post#37 of the ccv delete thread.
Check the Oil Filter Housing Gasket, Valve cover gasket, CCV, Oil cooler gasket (These will explain the blueish smoke). Oil pan gasket, the oil pan itself (look for damage), look around the oil level sensor for leaks aswell (this would explain the huge loss in oil). Valve stem seals will never let 1l go through in 100km.A properly functioning pressure control valve is designed to maintain a slight vacuum (approx. 10-15 mbar) in the crankcase, which assures reliable crankcase venting during all engine operating conditions. A malfunctioning crankcase ventilation valve may cause the following complaints: ***8226; Engine runs rough 9iYAj9p.
