What you need desperately is tactics so they dont lose their fights since they count as simmed. Caravans take time to make money. At start they make small profit but after a small time they start making huge profit. 3 caravans is enough if you can afford this will make 400-800 denars profit.
From what I've seen, clan lords will go hunting outlaws usually when there are not many other things to be doing. If the clan is at war they go for easy picking lords. The point of a clan lord following a caravan ruins the immersion for me, as caravans should ideally be a vulnerable asset on the map as a form of risk taking business.
Caravans destroyed. So I updated the game to the new patch today. I noticed that the caravans I had, had troops that started deserting. Opened up the clan parties tab, and there is a limit on the troops, 30. And in the span of five minutes all three of my caravans got taken out one by one by forrest or mountain bandits.
Bannerlord is meant to be an extension of the old Warband modules, yet misses some very basic features that even Native had. People say that Warband was a grind, I disagree. Or at least, a more realistic take on grind suitable for a lowly noble or peasant making a name in a medieval playground.
1.8 changed Party and Army AI to carry a lot more food and something with caravan buying patterns, which resulted in at least two of the dumbest things I've experienced in this game: Workshops that need food (breweries, wineries) never have any because lords and traders are buying everything.
