2008 Honda VT 750 Shadow will not start Went to start my 2008 shadow spirit 750c2, when cranked over it wouldn't start up, then started spitting out fuel after I let go of ignition start button from behind the air filter housing. I already changed out the petcock valve a while ago and ran it and it was working fine.

Didn't say you can't. That is, in fact, the recommended way to test. But you might NEVER get 14.4 VDC even if the charging system is functioning perfectly. When you test across the battery terminals, you are measuring the state of the entire electrical system. The battery is usually the weakest link.
